Renowned lawyer Tsatsu Tsikata has asked all Ghanaians to be hopeful that the coronavirus disease will be dealt with sooner or later.

He said there are so many lessons Ghanaians can pick from the pandemic going into the future in order to be able to handle such pandemics if they occur.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with TV3’s Alfred Ocansey on Hot Issues to be telecast at 9:00pm Thursday, June 18, Mr Tsikata said: “We should look at this pandemic from a kind of optimistic perspective.

“I never heard such quiet around me as I did in the first few days of the lockdown situation. You hardly heard any traffic around.

“I have seen pictures of empty streets in the big capitals of the world – London, Geneva, US, in China. But for me it’s been a moment to stop and reflect and I think there is going to be better times coming up.

“I am hopeful and praying that for us as a country we will come out. There may be some lessons that we will take out of this into the future.”

Ghana’s Covid-19 caseload is now 12,929, the Ghana Health Service reported on Thursday, June 18.

It follows the detection of 339 new cases. So far, a total of 261,319 tests have been run.

The number of recoveries is 4,468 with 66 deaths. The active cases are 8,395. The country’s positivity rate is 4.95 per cent.
