It was debate night during Sunday’s live performance in TV3’s Ghana’s Most Beautiful reality show as contestants went head-to-head with one another.
Before the presentations would kick off, paired contestants, studio audience and viewers were treated to some rich Ghanaian highlife tunes from legend Lucky Mensah.

Then came the real business for the night: the debate.
The motion for the debate was to be thoroughly exhausted by each of the contestants.
It was: ‘A Ghanaian woman’s place is her home. Otherwise, she is falling foul of tradition. Are you for or against?’
One after the other, all six contestants took turns to argue out their stance on the motion.
The first set of debaters, Tewa from the Central Region and Brong Ahafo Region’s Ohema, debated around a scenario in which a lady – working late in the office – is called by her angry husband to stop whatever she is doing to come home.
Ohema argued for the motion that a woman ought to take care of the home when necessary, outlining how a woman can perfectly combine her duties at home with that of her day job to avoid confrontations.

Tewa, who argued against the motion, strongly stated that a woman’s place goes beyond the home, and that a woman should be allowed to pursue a career and not be limited to the home.

The next pair, Upper East Region’s Wekia and Eastern Region’s Abena, whose scenario was centered around a president who publicly condemned his wife.
The president told his wife her lace is in the kitchen after she publicly criticized his governance.
Wekia, who argued for the motion, explained how the kitchen is not limited to cooking and cutlery, and that the role of a woman in the home is important since the woman caters for a lot at home; hence, the necessity in her staying home.

Abena, who argued against the motion, cited examples of women within the Ghanaian society who have a home and career to run and do so perfectly. She called for the empowerment of women to do that which suits them.

Next on stage was Ashanti Region’s Afrah and Greater Accra Region’s Naa, who also went head-to-head with each other, arguing over Bible verse Proverbs 31, which clearly outlines the duty of a woman.
Arguing for the motion, Afrah said the woman taking care of the home does not make her any less of a woman since what she does at home entails a lot which many people cannot handle.

Naa, who argued against the motion, quoted the Bible and Quran to buttress the fact that a woman is not supposed to take care of the home in isolation to other things like having a job.

At the end of the show, judges Linda Ampah and Bernie Archer commended the ladies for their performance, and decided to save all six contestants from eviction.
However, Eastern Region’s Abena, who impressed the judges with her debating skills, emerged as Star Performer for the night, and this is the third time she is winning the title.
Tewa from the Central Region was also adjudged the Most Eloquent contestant on the night.
Gradually, this year’s competition is drawing to a close as four contestants have already been evicted with some more to go before the grand finale.
