Ashanti Region’s representative for this year’s Ghana’s Most Beautiful television pageant Serwaa, put up a great performance on the maiden live show Sunday, to emerge the star performer for the week. She shrugged off competition from 15 others, most of who equally put in their best, to demonstrate they are in the competition not only to enjoy the fame, but to grab the covetous crown, the car and the cash prize. Serwaa mounted the stage with vim and vigour as though she was ready for battle like the warrior she celebrated on the night as her heroine, Yaa Asantewaa, the great Asante warrior. Themed ‘Heroes and Heroine Night,’ the 16 contestants were tasked to identify individuals in their respective regions who they consider as heroes or heroines, spelling out what they have done and achieved. One after the other,  the contestants took turns to celebrate some unsung heroes and heroines from their communities who are doing great things to serve and impact humanity. When it was the turn of Serwaa, she did not mince words as she articulated the bravery of the great Yaa Asantewa and how she led an army to war in 1900 to fight for the Golden Stool of the Asante Kingdom. The judges were wowed by her delivery to the extent that at the end of the show, it was easy to adjudge Serwaa as the star performer. Her confidence, delivery were on point and the judges concluded “She was absolutely amazin” Though it is early days yet, Serwaa seem to have started the competition on a high note and her fans would expect her to keep the momentum or even up her game in the coming weeks. Meanwhile, Volta Region’s Enam received the Best Costume award for the week while Yaya emerged Most Disciplined contestant. Under the catchphrase ‘Black and Proud’, the 2019 Ghana’s Most Beautiful pageant will run for 13 weeks with weekly live studio performances every Sunday, which will be televised live on TV3 at exactly 8:00PM.
