Reigning queen of Ghana’s Most Beautiful (GMB), Zeinab, could not hold back her tears Saturday evening as she sat with scores of dignitaries to watch a campaign documentary on how women in Ghana are losing their lives and unborn babies during childbirth.
The campaign video for the beauty queen’s maternal mortality project struck the emotions of almost all those who gathered at the TV3 Executive Theatre for the launch of the maternal mortality project to be championed by the Mayurlim Foundation.
Tears filled the eyes of the 2017 GMB winner as she mounted the podium to deliver her speech. It took her some moments to get herself together and cleaned up her tears before proceeding to deliver her speech.

Mayurlim, which literally translates, as mother’s love, is a Zeinab-led initiative that seeks to work towards curbing maternal mortality in rural communities in Ghana.
The entire project is estimated to cost GHC700,000.
“I’ll say it is a life turning moment for me and my entire family and I have the platform now to share my humanitarian works in the communities” Zeinab said.

She commended TV3 for using GMB to empower women who in turn impact society, indicating that for her, it is a fulfilling.
She called for support in the realisation of the objectives of the Mayurlim Foundation, which she owns.
“I crave for your support in the area of financial aid, networking, ambassadorial titles, to help fight against maternal mortality in Ghana”, she pleaded.
Head of Corporate Communications at Media General, Richard Ahiagble, expressed gratitude to all patrons of GMB for how far their support has taken the programme.
“With the support of everyone here and the millions across the, GMB has become the biggest the most relevant and the most watched TV reality show in Ghana” he noted.
He pledged the support of Media General for the project, expressing optimism that it will impact many lives especially in the rural areas.
Chairman of the event, Chief Alhaji Hamidu Abubakar Kabore, said he was proud and touched by the intents and objects of the Zeinab project.

He also urged all to support the project.
The lively event hosted by Johnny Hughes and spiced with cultural performance from the University Of Ghana School of Performing Arts.
There were solidarity messages from the longest serving judge on the GMB, Aunty Linda, other beauty queens and Zeinab’s own housemates in the 2017 competition.

In attendance were chiefs and traditional rulers from the Ga West Municipality, representatives of government officials, beauty queens, Staff of Media General and members of the public.
