2017 GMB's Nana launches ‘Shepreneur’ Club

The 2017-second runner-up of Ghana’s Most Beautiful (GMB) Nana Akua Asante Afful has launched an all female club to promote entrepreneurship among women in the country. Dubbed ‘Shepreneur’, the club will empower young women to venture into entrepreneurship as a source of employment. Nana who was the Western Regional representative of GMB in 2017 and an entrepreneur herself, is also seeking to use the club to help young females to explore their creativity. She intends to kickstart Shepreneur with the establishment of mini clubs at the various senior high schools and then to the tertiary educational institutions where people will be educated and empowered to take a bold step towards entrepreneurship. Periodic seminars and talk sessions will be organised for young girls who would be taken through training and grooming on how to nurture skills and talents in order to develop them into full business ideas. There would also be also be annual ‘Shepreneur’ shows were successful female entrepreneurs in diverse fields would interact and have mentoring sessions with young girls. Speaking at the launch of the ‘Shepreneur’ club in Accra, Nana explained the formation of the club was borne out of her passion for creativity and the urge to develop same into a business. “Shepreneur would nurture young talents and skills into great individuals. It would also create a network of young women entrepreneurs to encourage the young ones,” she said. Head of Corporate Affairs at Media General, operators of TV3, Richard Ahiagble pledged the group’s support towards the ‘Shepreneur’ club. Media General, he said, is ready and always prepared to give Nana the needed assistance to make her project grow and succeed. “Media General is solidly behind you Nana, we will provide all the resources and media coverage,” Richard Ahiagble said. He indicated that the Ghana’s Most Beautiful platform is aimed at empowering young women like Nana to serve as role models and take initiatives towards the development of society.
