President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on Monday, May 3 told US-based news channel CNN how determined he is to come to grips with the small-scale illegal mining menace.
In an interview with news anchor Zain Asher, President Akufo-Addo mentioned the recent deployment of the military to rid Ghana’s rivers of these illegal miners as a move to send signals about ending the menace.
“In fact, this week a major operation has been authorised by me by the [Ghana] Armed Forces to clear our rivers of all the delinquent machinery that is devastating and polluting our waters.”
