UN Peace Ambassador confers with King Tackie Teiko Tsruu II

    The United Nations (UN) Peace Ambassador, Bishop Dr Samuel Owusu has said there is the need to ensure peaceful coexistence among Ghanaians irrespective of their backgrounds.

    He said this during a courtesy call he paid to the Ga Traditional Council on Monday January 10, 2022.

    Bishop Owusu recounted to the traditional ruler that his main work is to serve as a messenger of peace in the country ence the courtesy call was to afford him the opportunity to seek knowledge from the traditional authority.  

    “As UN peace Ambassador, My work is to  speak as a messenger of peace  and also to seek  the knowledge and wisdom of  elders about peace  messages and  wellbeing, ow we can live our lives  in the country , certain areas of our  social life. 

    “So we decided to come and seek the wisdom and knowledge from his Majesty himself  also the Council  on how we can all  live in peace. I as at the General Assembly  to speak and I was given  an assignment  to pursue  four areas  that we need to  talk about it as  a Peace Ambassador  for this time.

     “These areas are peace and tolerance. As we see our country , the way our parliament is becoming, it is becoming something and  we need to speak to powers that be  tat we need peace  and tolerance.

    “Also, violence against humanity, children and women.  It is becoming too much in our society and we need people like you  to also peak and give us a word.

    “Again youth unemployment. Our youth  the future of our nation and our council  and our city  but it looks as if  we are not giving them so much hope  and it will be very  not good for us if we don’t give you youth message of hope  that no matter what it will be worthy with them. These are the messages I have been sent to give to his Majesty and also to take his words on this very important subject.,” he said.

    For his part, King Tackie Teiko Tusru II assured him that the autotomy would serve as partner to promote his work.

    “We are grateful that you have come here to be part of our session this morning. Me myself and all the other chiefs we want to take this opportunity to give you a happy new year and a prosperous one . We want to be partners to your agenda because it forms part of the Millennium Development Goals , we are partners.”
