Two held over alleged suicide of 10-yr-old boy

    Two suspects are in police custody assisting investigations into the alleged suicide of a 10-year-old boy at Atonsu, a suburb of Kumasi in the Asokwa Municipality.

    Asokwa District Police Commander Chief Superintendent Christopher Owusu Mpianin disclosed the development to Akoma FM‘s Nana Asenso Mensah Wednesday, August 11 that “one of the suspects Yaw Akuoko Sarpong, 33 years, on August 9 reported at the Asokwa district command that he returned home from work and found his younger brother Paul Boateng age 10 years hanged on a ceiling fan in one of the bedrooms in their house at Atonsu S – Line.”

    The Asokwa District Police Commander further explained that “afterwards, my men proceeded to the scene and saw the deceased hanged on a ceiling fan with a nylon net and his feet on a mattress. A kitchen stool and a ladder were found at the scene. The body was photographed and conveyed to Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital morgue for preservation and autopsy”.

    The two suspects, Yaw Akuoko Sarpong, 30, and Eric Gyimah, 49, are assisting police to thoroughly investigate the issue to ascertain the actual cause of death.

    The deceased, Paul Boateng, is said to be a Class 3 pupil of Dompoase M/A school.
