The National Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi, has officially filed a complaint at the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service against Member of Parliament for Assin Central Constituency, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong.

The MP is alleged to have gone on an Accra-based radio station on Tuesday, August 4 and threatened to unleash thugs on Mr Gyamfi, a video of which is making rounds.

Writing through his lawyers AB&M Legal Consult, the NDC national executive said since Mr Agyapong issued the threats, “our client has come under credible intelligence that show that indeed, Kennedy Agyapong has contracted some thugs to carry out the threats he issued on our client’s life”.

According to the letter of complaint, Mr Agyapong had issued same threats on same media platform in 2019 against investigative journalist Ahmed Suale, leading to his shooting.

“We humbly request your good office to cause investigations to be conducted into the complaint herein, relative to the threat of harm and/or death by Mr Kennedy Agyapong on our client’s life, both of which constitute serious offenses under the Criminal Offenses Act of Ghana, 1960 (Act 29).

“Our client is readily available to provide and/or assist you with any information that may be needed to conduct investigations into the complaint lodged.”
