President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has nominated Richard Broni as Municipal Chief Executive for East Gonja Municipal Assembly.
His nomination follows the rejection of Mohammed Tamimu two consecutive times by assembly members of the East Gonja Municipal Assembly.
In a statement signed by the Local Government Minister, Daniel Botwe, Mr Broni’s nomination was in accordance to Article 243 (1) of the 1992 Constitution and Section 20 (1) of the Local Governance Act, Act 936.
The statement also directs the Savannah Region Minister to liaise with the Savannah Regional Electoral Commission to conduct the confirmation process of the nominated chief executive.
The nominee, Richard Broni, was among some 24 aspirants for the position.
Profile
Richard Broni was born on the 11th November, 1981. He was born in Kalande in the East Gonja Municipality.
He started his Basic Education at Kalande Presby Primary School in the year 1990 and completed Kalande Presby JHS in the year 1997 where he obtained his Basic Education Certificate Education.
He gained admission to Salaga Senior High and completed in the year 2000.
He proceeded to Tamale College of Education where he obtained Teacher Cert A in 2005. He went back to the same college for his Top Up programme and obtained Diploma in Basic Education.
He later furthered his education at the University of Education, Winneba where he obtained his post Diploma in Basic Education.
After the completion of college, Richard Broni was posted to St Anthony Primary School and later transferred Junior High School as a teacher where he taught for 12 years.
He was appointed as the head teacher for Salaga Presby Primary in the East Gonja Municipality until he joined a non-governmental organization, FHI 360, on their USAID Ghana Partnership for Education, learning project in 2017 as the Regional Training and Coaching Coordinator for Northern Region.
In 2019 he was promoted as the Zonal Training and Coaching Coordinator for the Northern Sector.
Richard currently holds an Executive MBA in Human Resource from the University of Cape Coast.
He is married and Madam Dramani Afushetu and they are blessed with 3 children.
