Police arrest suspected narcotics dealer

    A crack team of officers from the Special Weapon And Tactics (SWAT) Unit of the Ghana Police Service on Thursday, September 2 arrested one Samuel Asante for reportedly trading in narcotics.

    The officers swooped on the suspect, 38, at the Christianburg Castle Junction in Accra upon a tip-off.

    A thorough search on Samuel Asante and his room revealed seven sacks of dried leaves suspected to be Indian Hemp and 10 bottles of alcoholic drinks brewed with some of the materials in the sacks.

    According to the police, with this arrest, they will “continue to adopt strategies to rid communities of criminals, in a bid to prevent crimes and to ensure law and order in the country”.

    “The general public is encouraged to assist the Police with information on criminal activities,” the police said in a post on Friday, September 3.

    The suspect will be arraigned before court soon.
