The Youth Wing of the People’s National Convention (PNC) has condemned the recent booing of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo at the Global Citizen Festival held last weekend at the Black Star Square.

Some patrons at the concert jeered at the President when he mounted the stage to address them.

The action has generated mixed reaction with the New Patriotic Party (NPP) accusing the National Democratic Congress (NDC) of planting their members to spark the booing.

It does not matter whether it was engineered by political opponents or not, the act was uncultured and should not be repeated anywhere,” a statement issued by the Acting National Youth Organiser, Muniru Seidu Mohammed, said.

It is a reality that there are difficulties in the country and the youth are the hardest hit but the youth are also the engine of growth to turn the fortunes of the country around if they are transparent, hardworking, truthful and incorruptible in their endeavours or dealings.”

Mr Seidu Mohammed urged the government to organise a youth forum to sensitise the youth on patriotism.

The government must organize sensitisation programmes for the youth to be informed of their responsibilities.

“Running a country is a shared responsibility and not an individual thing. The youth should be eager to get the right knowledge that will propel them to contributing meaningfully towards the forward march of the country.”

He also called on the youth to take advantage of government initiatives like YouStart to help create jobs.

A future PNC government shall embark on sensitisation programmes that will educate and create a mindset in the youth to be job creators rather than job seekers.”
