The opposition People’s National Convention (PNC) has indicated that Muslims in Ghana have been faced with a difficulty on the choice of a day to mark Eid-ul-Fitr.

“We have observed that the choice of Eid day is dependent on sighting the crescent moon,” the party said, “this makes the Eid day either falls at the end of 29th or the 30th day of Ramadan.”

“This poses some difficulty to the Muslim Community on the choice of the Eid day,” a statement issued by General Secretary Janet Asana Nabla said.

“A future PNC government will grant them two holidays to ease their difficulty.”

The statement issued on Saturday, April 22 was to wish Muslims in Ghana a happy Eid as they mark the end of Ramadan.

Fasting in the month of Ramadan is a pillar amongst the Pillars on which the Islamic faith is built, we commend them for going through the period successfully.

“It is our wish for them that Almighty Allaah accepts from them their sacrifices and all that they have prayed for.”

The party appealed to the National Chief Imam, Prof Sheikh Osmanu Nuhu Sharubutu, all the regional Imams, Imams of the various sects and the entire Muslims to “pray for a prosperous Ghana”.
