The Chief Executive of the National Pensions Regulatory Authority (NPRA),Hayford Attah-Krufi, has called for support in its bid to increase coverage to the informal sector. “Eighty per cent of working population working for themselves, and since pensions is for everyone, they must come on board,” he said. Mr Attah-Krufi made the comment when some senior management staff of the Authority paid a courtesy call on the management of Media General in Accra. The National Pensions Regulatory Authority is looking forward to leveraging switch technology to increase pension coverage for the informal sector worker. Its long term goal is also to ensure retirement income security and regulate pensions through effective policy direction to secure income for the retired in Ghana. To be able to achieve its objective, the NPRA is reaching out to media organizations with proven track record. Mr Attah-Krufi said the decision to choose Media General stems from its leading role on the market. He called for Media General’s support as it rolls out its programs. Group chief executive officer of Media General, Beatrice Agyemang, promised the Media General will support the NPRA to carry out its mandate. “You have us as partners to sensitize Ghanaians on pension schemes,” she assured.
