A Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC), Hajia Abibata Shanni Mahama Zakariah, who is aspiring to be New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary Candidate the Yendi Constituency says she is confident she will win the contest come Saturday, June 20.

According to her, the development she has brought to the constituency over the past years is enough to win her the slot.

She added she is not distracted by attempts made by his opponents to ridicule her.

Being the only female aspirant in the race, Hajia Abibata is optimistic of winning the primaries.

According to the Deputy MASLOC CEO, her credibility, commitment and determination will win her the election.

“I have been consistent and transparent in my support to delegates and the good people of Yendi and that alone is enough reason for them to vote me,” she said.

She admitted there are challenges especially as a woman but said she is focused and not perturbed.

“I have a good reputation and can’t be distracted by those attempts to paint me black.”

She called on delegates to shift from giving the men the opportunity and support her to bring positive change to Yendi.

Hajia Abibata also confirmed she has a good rapport with her two other contenders.

The Yendi Constituency is one of the most talked about constituencies in the Northern Region ahead of NPP’s parliamentary primaries.

Three aspirants – Alhaji Farouk Aliu Mahama, son of Ghana’s first Muslim Vice President, Alhaji Baba Daney, a civil servant at the Northern Regional Coordinating Council, and Hajia Abibata – are contesting for the slot.

The primary is expected to take place in eight out of the nine constituencies in the Region except Gusheigu Constituency.
