Deputy Defence Minister and Member of Parliament for Atwima Kwanwoma Constituency Kofi Amankwa-Manu Esq has said November’s presidential primaries for the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) would not be about tradition but popularity, he told Media General’s William Evans-Nkum on Monday.

“I wasn’t there when UP was formed, but for NPP I was there when the Electoral Commission handed the party’s certificate to our leaders. For us it is what the majority says, and now everybody is rooting for Dr Bawumia,” he minced no words.

“All the flagbearer hopefuls qualify to lead the party [but] Dr Bawumia, for me, is exceptional,” he posited

Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, who recently posted a cryptic message “IT IS POSSOBLE” on his Facebook wall, alluding to his official intent of leading the ruling NPP, faces opposition from Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, Kennedy Agyapong, Dr Owusu Afriyie Akoto, among others.

But the Atwima-Kwanwoma MP is rooting for the Vice President.

He was speaking at a ceremony to support over 100 widows in his constituency.

He gave each an undisclosed amount of money as well as other valuables to sustain their livelihood.

“This is not the first time, I have been doing this to help the vulnerable in the constituency. I shall continue,” Kofi Amankwa-Manu said.
