A total of 132, 076 applicants have been registered in Phase One of the ongoing registration exercise in the Northern Region. The Deputy Director of the Electoral Commission in the Region, Emmanuel Abeam Danso, disclosed this to 3news.com in Tamale. He described the first phase of the exercise as smooth but not without some challenges. He mentioned bad weather and lack of adherence to Covid-19 protocols at registration centers as some of the challenges registration officials encountered. “The rains usually come in the morning and most of our registration centers are in the open where there is no shelter close by so our officials will have to wait for the rains to stop before they start the day’s work.” He appealed to applicants who are yet to go through the process to wait in their areas for the officials to get to them to register. The voter registration exercise which started on June 30, is expected to end on August 6. By Christopher Amoako|3news.com|Northern Region|Ghana]]>
