Among the many parliamentary candidates who lost in the primaries held on January 27 by the New Patriotic Party (NPP), some of them, aside being incumbent MPs, were either ministers or deputy ministers of state.

The occurrence does not only have implications for Parliament, it has for the Executive arm of government as well.

That is because the state will be deprived of their wealth of experience.

They are:

  • Joseph Cudjoe Minister of Public Enterprises
  • Freda Prempeh, Sanitation Minister
  • Lariba Abudu Zuweira, Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection,
  • Tina Mensah, Deputy Minister of Health
  • Ama Pomaa Boateng, Deputy Minister for Communications and Digitalisation,
  • Mahama Asei Seini, Deputy Minister of Health
  • Moses Anim, Deputy Minister for Fisheries and Aquaculture Development
  • Bright Wireko-Brobby, Deputy Minister of Employment and Labour Relations
  • Gifty Twum Ampofo, Deputy Minister of Education.
