One of the primaries of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) put on hold in the Ashanti Region is scheduled to be held today, Wednesday, June 24, 2020.

The primary in the Kwadaso Constituency was one of three put on hold on Saturday, when the party elected parliamentary candidates for the December 7 elections, in constituencies it has sitting members of Parliament (MPs) in.

About 40 of these MPs lost their bids to represent the party again in the next parliamentary elections.

In the Kwadaso Constituency, incumbent Dr Samiu Kwadwo Nuamah will face challenge from Vincent Frimpong Manu and Kingsley Nyarko.

Dr Nuamah, in the last primary in 2015, ousted incumbent Dr Owusu Afriyie Akoto, who is currently the Minister of Food and Agriculture.

The primary in the Kwadaso Constituency was put on hold as a result of controversy over the album for use.

On Tuesday the party’s General Secretary, John Boadu, wrote to Ashanti Region Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, to use the 2013 delegates album for Wednesday’s polls.

The album is said to have been updated in 2018.

In his letter, Mr Boadu also spelt out guidelines for the primary on Wednesday.
