After a successful return from the United States of America, Minister-designate for Finance Ken Ofori-Atta will face the Appointments Committee of Parliament on Thursday, March 25.

The Minister of Finance in President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s first term was scheduled to be vetted on Tuesday, February 16 but was taken ill.

He had to be flown to the US, where he received treatment for post-Covid-19 complications.

He returned home on Sunday, March 21.

A statement from the Public Affairs Department of Parliament announced that the Committee will hold its public hearing to consider Mr Ofori-Atta as Minister of Finance.

It said attendance will be strictly by invitation with all Covid-19 protocols to be adhered to.

Mr Ofori-Atta had attributed his recovery to divine intervention.

“For me personally, I guess I would want to reiterate how merciful the Lord has been to me and also grateful for the prayer support from my family,” he said when he joined a virtual forum on the 2021 budget.

“The challenge is my post-COVID-19 symptoms. It is in the Bible that says Peter, therefore, was kept in prison, but prayer was made without ceasing for the church and for him and I have felt how God miraculously delivered Peter from prison because the saints prayed for him.”

He added: “The doctors here have been fantastic and very dedicated, but even they acknowledge that there must be someone upstairs who is watching over me because the numbers were so critical. So thank you indeed for your earnest prayers which have saved me.”
