Jane engages CSOs in Ghana

Vice Presidential Candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, has begun engagements with civil society organisations (CSOs) in Ghana. She was at the offices of STAR-Ghana Foundation on Wednesday, September 9 as her first stop in the two-day tour of these groups. Prof Opoku-Agyemang said her move is to bridge the gulf between political parties and CSOs since the two share common interests. “It is something we want to initiate and continue,” she noted. “Every too often you come to us, which is fine, and this not to say you shouldn’t come. This is a two-way street,” she added. For her, political parties must be able to work with CSOs for the common goal of Ghana’s development. “It is not us and you and you and us. We are not fighting and I keep saying that if there is any fight it should be the quality of life in this country and that is what you are interested in and that’s what we are interested in. So it is about our common mission.” Chair of the Governing Council of STAR-Ghana Foundation Dr Esther Ofei-Aboagye congratulated Prof Opoku-Agyemang for her nomination as the running mate of former President John Dramani Mahama and also for the recently launched manifesto of the National Democratic Congress (NDC). She said the People’s Manifesto, as the party’s 2020 manfiesto is labelled, has a lot to offer Ghanaians.
