The Chairman of the Board of Trustees overseeing the controversial National Cathedral project, Apostle Dr Opoku Onyinah, has clarified his earlier post on Facebook, indicating that “it has nothing to do with what is going on.”

The name of the former chairman of the Church of Pentecost has come up strongly as a possible running mate for the NPP presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, ahead of the December 2024 elections.

The revered church leader said in a Facebook post yesterday [February 10, 2024] that there is a reason why the Lord created him and that he refuses to hide his talents.

“The Lord has a reason for creating me. Burying my talent and making it redundant is doing a disservice to my family, church, nation, and world,’ he wrote, adding that “if I fail to speak, to work, to contribute, I allow the ‘bad’ minority to rule and dictate. Often, the silence of the majority or a good one helps the noisy minority destroy society or even rule. (From my script on Words of Wisdom).”

The post has received varied interpretations, suggesting that the Man of God is cementing his grounds for the task ahead. Many believed the post by the respected preacher had a political undertone.

Meanwhile, in a separate Facebook post today [Feb. 11], Apostle Onyinah explained his earlier post.

He noted that the post was coined based on the Church of Pentecost’s 2015 theme.

“Very interesting. I coined my last post when we (The Church of Pentecost) adopted the theme, “Being a Good Steward of God in My Generation” in 2015,” Apostle Onyinah wrote.

He further noted that while attempts to look for one of his many quotes to share were unsuccessful, he stumbled upon this one, which touched his heart as a preacher, and he decided to repost it again.

According to him, the post “has many lessons.”

“Last night, I was looking for a quote that touched my heart on preaching to post it. As I could not find it and stumbled on this, I posted it.

“It has nothing to do with what is going on. Perhaps it has come at the wrong time. Timing is important. I still “keep my head” and place Christ first in whatever I do,” he emphasised.
