Gun-wielding men in viral video, reverend who is brother of one remanded

    The Ashanti Regional Police Command of the Ghana Police Service has remanded into custody the three men captured in a viral video flaunting pistols and pump action guns.

    The three were arrested on Thursday, June 17 at Gausu, a suburb of Obuasi in the Ashanti Region.

    Among the suspects arrested was a reverend, who is a brother to one of the men found in the video.

    The men are Emmanuel Dakorah, 26, alias Obour, and Richard Suleman, 28. Reverend Alfred Dakorah, who is said to be the owner of the pistol and a senior brother of the first suspect, was also put in police custody.

    One pump action gun with five empty cartridges were retrieved from the suspects.

    Briefing the media, Deputy Ashanti Regional Police Commander DCOP David Adjem Agyeman said the suspects will assist in investigations.

    DCOP Adjem Agyeman appealed to the public to assist police with information on the suspects.

    One is yet to be arrested.

    Meanwhile, the police say investigations into the robbery case at Manso Mossikrom in the Region has started.

    According to DCOP Adjem Agyeman, preliminary investigation indicates that some six armed men wielding pump action guns and machetes went to the community and attacked some gold buyers, robbed them of unspecified amount of money, quantity of raw gold and mobile phones.

    The robbers also shot and wounded two persons who were later rushed to the St Martin’s Catholic Hospital at Manso Agroyesum, where they were admitted and are undergoing treatment.

    The Deputy Ashanti Regional Police Commander said efforts are underway to arrest the perpetrators and put them before court for prosecution.
