The Municipal Chief Executive for East Gonja, Richard Broni, has appealed to contractors working on the 59-kilometer Tamale-Salaga-Makango road to put in extra effort to ensure the completion of the project.

According to him, the road when completed will serve as a short and alternative route linking the north to the south, hence boosting economic activities.

The President’s representative in the municipality also admonished the contractors to do a good job so as to avoid early repair works on the road.

“The dream of everyone from East Gonja is to see all our roads finally tarred for good and it’s for this reason that I was glad to see work progressing steadily,” he observed.

He added: “This road is one of my priorities and I want to see it completed so I need you to speed up your work to fast-track its completion.”

He assured them of his cooperation and support in the course of their work.

Da-Dingbe Construction Ltd and A&N Ganem Construction Ltd are the contractors working on the road.

The road has been under construction for over two decades but work has been moving at a slow pace.

Residents over the years have demonstrated against the delays in executing the road and raised several concerns with authorities to ensure its completion.

Even though some portions of the road is fixed, the remaining 59 kilometers is yet to be completed.
