Hearts of Oak midfielder Daniel Afriyie Barnieh has extended his contract with the club ahead of the 2022 African Nations Championship (CHAN) in Algeria.

In a club statement issued on Tuesday, January 3, management expressed satisfaction with the move.

“The Management of Accra Hearts of Oak PLC is pleased to announce to our teeming followers that Daniel Afriyie Barnieh has extended his contract with the club.”

Barnieh, who was part of the Black Stars squad at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, has been dodgy with a contract extension as reports suggested a move to FC Zurich in the Swiss Super League.

The statement did not give any more details on the contract extension.

“The club will provide further updates on Daniel Afriyie Barnieh in due course,” it ended.

Barnieh captained Ghana’s Black Satellites to glory in the 2021 African U-20 Cup of Nations.

He will serve as the Vice Captain to team mate Gladson Awako in Ghana’s campaign at the 2022 CHAN.

The Black Galaxies will begin their quest for the title on Sunday, January 15 in a Group C clash against Madagascar.
