The Executive Director of the Child Rights International (CRI), Mr, Bright Appiah, has revealed plans to clamp down on parents using their children as a money-making avenue on social media.

He became a household name after reporting and seeing to it that the law felt with actress Akuapem Poloo for inherently exposing herself to her son.

Speaking on his latest work, Mr Bright Appiah said his team is currently compiling a list of Ghanaian celebrities who have opened social media accounts in the names of their children and making money off it.

“We’ve profiled a number of people and at the appropriate time, we’ll see how we will place it. Especially people who are using a child to run adverts that are not child-related and persons who are opening social media accounts for their children without looking at the economic implications,” he said.

Mr Appiah disclosed to Anthony Dzamefe on A Father’s Day Out programme on TV3 that they will be taking on such persons to face the law and answer what they used the money for.

“If it [the social media account)] is giving them money, how are they utilizing those resources? We are doing that profile and at the appropriate time we will make it public.”
