The much-anticipated Connect FM Western Trade Fair has officially been launched with dignitaries from the various business communities hailing the station for creating the avenue for traders to promote their products.

The event, which was held under the chairmanship of the Municipal Chief Executive of Effia Kwesimintsim Municipal Assembly, also brought together dignitaries from the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI), the Sekondi Takoradi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (STCCI), the Ghana National Chamber of Commerce, officials of the Takoradi Mall, among several others.

Close to 70 businesses are participating in the five-day fair, which is under the theme: ‘Building Sustainable Businesses through Trade Promotion’.

Station Manager for Connect FM Ransford Nana Osei Asare, speaking at the official launch of the Fair, said the 2020 event is an opportunity for traders to reposition themselves back into the market after several months of coronavirus.

“Nothing can be more relevant than giving the needed exposure to SMEs to be able to sustain their businesses.”

President of the Sekondi Takoradi Chamber of Commerce and Industry Eugene Fredua Ofori-Atta commended Media General, and for that matter Connect FM, for championing a worthy gesture which according to him is the most important event to improve the strength of businesses.

“I urge the vendors to take advantage of this fair since this will also give them the opportunity to network and let the outside world know the good products which are made in Ghana.”

MCE for the Effia Kwesimintsim Municipal Assembly Kojo Acquah said the Western Region has been a preferred destination for investors which requires traders to keep the markets open to attract more investors, adding programmes such as the Western Trade Fair will help achieve the vision.

“I commend Connect FM for helping to fulfil a vision of making the Western Region the preferred destination for investors and I will also appeal to the businesses communities to take advantage,” he stated.

The Western Trade Fair, a bi-annual fair, is designed to help bring businesses into direct contact with their target consumers on a single platform.

The event, which is organized by Media General’s Takoradi-based radio station Connect FM, has so far provided the avenue for SMEs to showcase their products thereby providing customers a one-stop shop to get their favourite goods and services at affordable prices.

The five-day event started on Wednesday, September 30 and ends on Sunday, October 4 at the forecourt of the very popular Takoradi Mall.

Products being exhibited at the Fair includes handicrafts, traditional wear, baby products, among several others.

The dignitaries led by the Station Manager for Connect FM and the Municipal Chief Executive for Effia Kwesimintsim later inspected the various stands and interacted with the exhibitors.
