Police officers had to be called in to ‘arrest’ the Greater Accra Region Chairman of opposition People’s National Convention (PNC), Bala Salifu Maikankan, who caused disruptions during a press conference at the party’s headquarters in Accra on Wednesday, September 1.

The press conference was called to address recent issues within the party, particularly the suspension of General Secretary Janet Asana Nabla.

But before the press conference started, Mr Maikankan, who was signatory to a communique throwing support for Madam Nabla, stormed the venue to stand in between the addressers and the addressees, journalists.

Police under the Accra Regional Command of the Ghana Police Service stormed the venue to persuade the regional chairman to back off.

Meanwhile, Media General’s Stanley Blewu reports that the embattled General Secretary is heading to the venue to address the journalists on the issues.
