CEO of defunct Beige Bank to call 61 witnesses in stealing case against him

Former Chief Executive Officer of defunct Beige Bank, Michael Nyinaku will rely on the witness testimonies of 61 people, his lawyers have indicated to an Accra High Court.

In court on Monday, March 4, lead counsel for the former Beige Bank CEO, lawyer Thaddeous Sory disclosed to the court that he had filed the names of the first fifteen of the total 61 persons his client intended to call.

The court presided over by Justice Efia Serwah Asare-Botwe reminded the defendant’s counsel that per the case management conference the case was to have commenced today with the accused opening his defense.

She noted, however, that in order for the case to be expedited there was the need for the witness statements of the persons listed to be provided. She, therefore, ordered lawyers of the Beige Bank CEO to file the witness statements by Friday, March 8 and notify the prosecution.

Michael Nyinaku is standing trial for 43 charges that have been levelled against him.

Out of the 43 charges, nine border on stealing, 25 on fraudulent breach of trust and another nine borders on money laundering.

He has pleaded not guilty to all the charges. The case has since been adjourned to March 13.
