The Alliance for Social Equity and Public Accountability (ASEPA) has petitioned the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) to probe President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for allegedly collecting a $40,000 bribe.
In a video documentary attached and presented to the Commission, ASEPA insists the President’s action is in clear violation of his oath of office.
ASEPA also wants CHRAJ to perform a forensic audit on the president’s bank accounts to ascertain the in-flow of funds as well as the sources.
Executive Director of ASEPA Mensah Thompson petitioned CHRAJ on Wednesday, December 2.
Meanwhile, the Editor-in-Chief of the New Crusading Guide newspaper, Abdul Malik Kweku Baako, has shredded claims by opponents, particularly the National Democratic Congress (NDC), that President Akufo-Addo has been captured on tape taking a $40,000 bribe.
Speaking on Peace FM’s Kokrokoo programme Wednesday, December 2, Mr Baako discounted the claims.
“If they want us to discuss political party financing, that is a different argument. But when you talk of bribing a president in order to secure somebody’s job security then you are talking nonsense.
“This is a blank bullet that has been fired by political desperados. It will have no effect. It is fake secret recording recorded in 2016. People should not waste time on that fake thing.”
