Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has urged his supporters to be calm and wait patiently for the results of the presidential primaries of their party, the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Asked as to who he thinks will be the winner of the highly contested primaries, the Vice President said it needs awaiting “but I pray I am the one”.

He was responding to questions from the press after he cast his ballot in Saturday’s primaries.

The Vice President is highly tipped to be the next candidate to lead the NPP into a major election, having been running mate to Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in the last four elections.

He is being challenged, however, by Assin Central Member of Parliament Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, former Agriculture Minister Dr Owusu Afriyie Akoto and former Mampong MP Francis Addai-Nimoh.

All four remain optimistic of winning the elections.

But having led the Super Delegates Conference held on Saturday, August 26, Dr Bawumia is expected to win the primaries to become NPP’s 2024 flagbearer.
