President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is scheduled to deliver his state-of-the-nation address in Parliament on Tuesday, March 9.

This was announced by Speaker of Parliament, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, on Tuesday, March 2, when the House resumed after a three-week break.

It will be in fulfillment of Article 67 of the 1992 Constitution.

“The President shall, at the beginning of each session of Parliament and before dissolution of Parliament, deliver to Parliament a message on the state of the nation,” the Constitution demands.

The last state-of-the-nation address given by President Akufo-Addo was on Tuesday, January 5, a couple of days before the dissolution of the Seventh Parliament.

Speaker Bagbin told Members that the president has notified Parliament of his readiness to fulfill Article 67 of the constitution.

President Akufo-Addo, in another development, notified the Speaker that his fiscal policy for the 2021 financial year will be delivered three days later.

The delivery in Parliament is expected to be done by the president’s representative at the Ministry of Finance.
