Actress Akuapem Poloo, after widespread condemnations, has apologised for a nude photo she posted on social media, with her son. The controversial actress shared the racy photo, showed her completely naked squatting before her son, who wore only briefs, as they held hands to mark his seventh birthday. Akuapem Poloo got social media buzzing on Tuesday, with a greater number of people in an out of Ghana, condemning her for the photo she shared on Instagram. Several commentators bashed her act as an abuse of the rights of her son. The Child Rights International, in a letter to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service, described the act as a breach of the Welfare Principle of the Child’s Act. Child Rights International said it was also an “abuse of the child’s righto privacy and dignity” and called on the CID to investigate the matter. After the widespread condemnations, the actress, also known as Rosemond Brown, had defended her action saying “I was not completely naked. He did not see my organs because I covered myself with a cloth and applied sellotapes to the necessary parts. Besides the picture was taken in my own house.” But late Tuesday, Akuapem Poloo, who disclosed that she baths with her son, took to her Instagram page to apologise and explain the rationale behind her post. The actress, who said she was being artistic with the photo, explained “What I was saying was that, no matter how naked you see your parent, don’t run away from them. Get close to them and cloth them.” “I am so sorry that if I hurt anyone with my post this morning. I also want you to know that it wasn’t made with a bad intention,” Akuapem Poloo said in the video.
