The Ashanti Region Organizer for the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Francis Adomako, has urged elections committee and other constituency executives in charge of internal elections to abide by party procedures to curb the rising tension within the Region

Speaking on Akoma FM’s current affairs and political show GhanAkoma Monday, February 21, the regional organizer appealed to party members who are interested in picking forms to contest for various positions to petition the regional executives if they feel intimidated or otherwise by any party officer.

Some aggrieved party members accused executives of alleged conspiracy to compile a new party album without resorting to due process Saturday February 19.

Angry members at Kwadaso had to chase the Constituency Chairman, Bonah Boadi, to release the nomination forms.

In less than 24 hours, a similar incident happened at Manhyia North Constituency where but for the timely intervention of the police at the scene who whisked Member of Parliament Akwasi Konadu away, a different story might have been told.

Mr. Adomako, who spoke with reference to chaotic scenes over the weekend over alleged inequitable distribution of nomination forms for polling stations executive positions, told host of the show Aduanaba Kofi Asante Ennin that “all these are coming up because the party has become attractive but we believe in democracy, so I will urge all aggrieved persons to file a petition to the regional disciplinary committee for proper and immediate redress”.

Advising the various constituency executives, Mr Adomako asked them to follow party protocols and procedures to reduce the “artificial” tension.

“It is not right for constituency officers to side with a particular aspirant, it creates bitterness and apathy so it’s about time we heed to party laid-down procedures.”

The party has opened nominations for interested members to contest at the various polling station levels between February 19 and February 29, 2022.

The NPP Ashanti Region Organizer has called for cool heads to prevail to ensure a united front to “break the eight” in 2024.
