Respectfully support the Black Stars – GFA President to Ghanaians
The President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kurt Okraku, is courting support of the nation for the Black Stars, who will take on Gabon on Friday, January 14 in their second game at the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations.
Ghana lost 0-1 to Morocco in their opening game on Monday but Mr Okraku says the team has recovered well to face the Panthers.
GWCL announces nationwide water rationing
The Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) has announced what it calls a “water demand management to ensure equitable distribution of the little water currently being produced at the various treatment plants”.
This was contained in a press release on Wednesday.
GMA reacts to vaccination concerns by some doctors
The Ghana Medical Association (GMA) has slammed some doctors calling themselves Concerned Ghanaian Doctors for questioning the country’s vaccine mandate in the fight against Covid-19.
“The The GMA finds the contents of the petition misleading, unfortunate and not based on available local and international scientific data,” it said in a statement issued on Wednesday, January 12.
“The GMA dissociates itself from the said petition.”
Bizarre incident in Mali-Tunisia AFCON game
There was controversy close to the end of the Mali-Tunisia Group F opener at the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations after Zambian referee Janny Sikazwe whistled for the end of the match a few minutes to time.
The two teams were ordered to return to finish off the remaining minutes but the North Africans failed to show up, leaving the score 1-0 in favour of the Eagles of Mali.
Ranking Member to push for parliamentary probe into death of woman in ambulance
The Ranking Member on the Health Committee of Parliament, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has assured the family of the nursing mother who died in ambulance of a parliamentary probe into the incident.
The woman died allegedly as a result of failure of her husband to pay for the fuel to get the ambulance to transport her from the Western Region to the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra.
Ghana extends South Korea travel ban
The government of Ghana has extended the travel ban on non-Ghanaian travellers from South Korea.
The Asian country was among three others whose citizens were banned from entering Ghana as a result of the coronavirus.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration of the Republic of Ghana wishes to inform the general public that the government of Ghana has extended the temporary travel restriction on all non-Ghanaian travelers arriving from South Korea, until 3rd February 2022.”
Akufo-Addo to cut sod for first STEM Academy
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is expected to be joined by the Education Minister, Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum, later in the day to cut sod for the first academy dedicated to Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) in Ghana.
The event will be held at East Legon in the Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency. It will be the first of many STEM academies across the nation.
