    Mahama mourns tragic explosion in Bogoso

    Former President John Dramani Mahama has expressed sadness about Thursday’s tragic explosion at Apiate, near Bogoso in the Western Region.

    He is praying for speedy recovery for the injured and urging emergency service providers “to continue to work assiduously towards preventing further spread, alleviate the damage and suffering in the affected communities”.

    Bogoso Explosion: Recovery efforts go deep into night

    Efforts to bring the effects of the deadly explosion at Apiate, near Bogoso, under control appear to go deep into the night till the following day.

    According to the Municipal Chief Executive for Prestea-Huni Valley, Dr Isaac Dasmani, access routes have been created but more have to be done by Friday morning.

    This was after Ivory Coast thrashed defending champions Algeria 3-1 in the final group E game played on Thursday at the Japoma Stadium in Douala, Cameroon.

    Akufo-Addo commiserates with Bogoso explosion victims

    President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has sent a message of condolences to bereaved families of the victims of the deadly explosion in Apiate, near Bogoso in the Western Region, Thursday, January 20.

    Appeal made for churches, schools to accommodate surviving victims of Bogoso explosion

    The police have made a passionate appeal to nearby towns of Appiate to open up schools and churches to scores of victims of the deadly explosion in the town.

    Despite the huge number of casualties, more are also battling for their lives hospitals and clinics within the Bogoso municipality.

    “The public has been advised to move out of the area to nearby towns for their safety while recovery efforts are underway,” the police said in a statement.

    “An appeal is also being made to nearby towns to open up their classrooms, churches etc to accommodate surviving victims.”

    The first footage on the deadly explosion at Apiate near Bogoso on Thursday afternoon has been released.

    The video shows an entire community razed down by the explosion while rescue workers continue frantic efforts to save lives.

    Police issue emergency notice over Bogoso deadly explosion

    Police have urged residents around Apiate, near Bogoso in the Western Region, to remain calm as they provide emergency service following Thursday’s explosion rippling through the town.

    Scores are feared dead and the police have joined other emergency service providers in bringing the situation under control.
