    CLOGSAG declares nationwide strike, starting Thursday

    The Civil and Local Government Staff Association of Ghana (CLOGSAG) has asked all its members to stay home from Thursday, January 20.

    This is to press home their demand for a better condition of service.

    Teacher unions roar at GES over semester for schools

    The teacher unions are resisting the decision, demanding its rescission with immediate effect

    Four major teacher unions – GNAT, NAGRAT, TEWU and CCT-GH – are not enthused about a decision by the Ghana Education Service (GES) to change the three-term academic calendar for schools to a semester-based system.

    “We therefore call on GES to immediately withdraw the policy, pending full consultations with the Unions in Education and other major stakeholders and do serve notice, that failure to do so would be fiercely resisted.”

    Majority replies Minority over Bagbin soldiers’ withdrawal

    The Majority Caucus in Parliament has taken exception to assertions by its opposite number that the withdrawal of military attachment to the Speaker of Parliament was politically motivated.

    “What is the proof?” the Caucus questioned in a statement issued on Monday, January 17.

    Ajax doubts over Kudus for AFCON

    Dutch side Ajax Amsterdam’s manager Erik ten Haag has raised doubts about midfielder Mohammed Kudus joining his national teammates in Cameroon for the remainder of the ongoing Cup of Nations.

    He said Kudus is not match-fit and would be “strange” if he makes it to Africa for the tourney.

    Ato Forson Vrs AG case begins today

    The case against former Deputy Finance Minister Cassiel Ato Forson for supposedly willfully causing financial loss to the state will open at the Accra High Court today, Monday, January 17.

    Together with two others, Dr Ato Forson is said to have executed a contract by the government of Ghana to purchase some 200 ambulances for the National Ambulance Service wthout due process.
