The Majority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin has said the promises of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) of giving Ghanaians a better Ghana are unfounded.

He says the records of the NDC when they were in government did not help Ghanaians hence they have nothing to offer.

Speaking on the Big Issue on TV3 with Berla Mundi on Thursday February 29, the Effutu lawmaker said “The Mahama of yesterday and his cabinet ministers of yesterday are the same today, they have not changed, they have nothing new.

“The major social intervention programs that they promised to introduce they couldn’t introduce them. Tell me, is there a single social intervention program that their 8 years in office produced? No. In our case we have.”

Meanwhile, Mr Afenyo-Markin has said it is important for ministers of state, Members of Parliament, and all other government officials to listen to the concerns of the governed.

He says it is only when they listen that the actual concerns of the people will be noted and addressed accordingly.

To that end, he praised the Johnnie’s Bite segment on TV3/3FM which takes place every morning, Monday to Friday, where the host Johnnie Hughes, without mincing words, speaks on the ills of society.

He said, “As MPs, as ministers, as government officials, what it is for us is that we must touch base.

“That is why I said that your critique, Johnnie’s Bite is good for us because if people will listen in government, then you begin to sit up because it is not who you think you are as a leader but what the people think you are.

“So, it’s about the people, if you are not doing it right, your job is to situate it right and get it right.”
