2020 BECE begins

A total of 531,705 final-year junior high school (JHS) students from across the 16 regions of the country will be starting this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examinations (BECE) from today, Monday, September 14.

The number comprises 269,419 males and 262,286 females.

They will start with English Language and Religious and Moral Education (RME).

The exams will take place at 2,007 centers across the country.

There will be 2,007 supervisors from the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) who will be assisted by 1,719 other supervisors.

A total of 17,440 schools have registered for the exams with 18,716 invigilators hired to help in the conduct of the exams.

The Ashanti Region presents the highest number of candidates, 106,857  candidates made up of 54,025 males and 52,832 females.

Upper West Region presents the lowest number of candidates, 13,926.

The exams will end on Friday, September 18.
