Covid-19 cases up for the second time in a day; tally now 14,154

Ghana coronavirus count has gone up again with 147 new cases, taking the national toll to 14,154.

It is the second figure to be announced in a day; just few hours after 290 cases were released by the Ghana Health Service on Sunday, June 21.

No new fatalities have been recorded since the last 15 deaths were announced Saturday evening to put the total figure at 85.

Active cases however have shot up, taking the figure from 3,449 to 3,596

The new figures were released few minutes after President Nana Akufo-Addo’s 12th address to update the nation on covid-19.

“As at Saturday, 20th June, the total number of positives, cumulatively, stands at 14,154, out of 270,300 tests conducted… we currently have 24 persons severely ill, six persons critically ill, with four persons on ventilators. Eighty-five (85) persons have, regrettably, died,” the President said.

The regional breakdown as given by the Ghana Health Services are:

Greater Accra Region – 8,075

Ashanti Region – 2,812

Western Region – 1,148

Central Region – 794

Eastern Region – 373

Volta Region – 314

Upper East Region – 271

Oti Region – 105

Western North Region – 82

Northern Region – 61

Savannah Region – 37

Upper West Region – 35

Bono East Region – 33

Ahafo Region – 8

North East Region – 3

Bono Region – 3
