[L-R] Johnnie Hughes and Dan Kweku Botwe on TV3’s New Day[/caption]The decision to site the regional capital of the newly created Savannah Region at Damongo was a consensus between the government and the chiefs in the area, Minister for Regional Re-organization and Development, Daniel Kweku Botwe has explained. “All the chiefs in the kingdom met, all the opinion leaders met, and they actually discussed their capital. They openly did it and there was consensus,” he said on TV3 magazine show, New Day, on Tuesday.

He was commenting on the burning of the New Patriotic Party constituency office at Salaga by some angry youth who were not pleased with the announcement of Damongo as the capital for the new region. He observed there was no partisanship in the committees they formed for the Savannah Region campaign drive as they were a mix of National Democratic Congress and NPP executives. Mr. Botwe lamented what happened at Salaga was “so unfortunate and so sad”. Watch full interview below  By P.D Wedam||Ghana]]>
