I’ll review sports betting tax – John Mahama

Former President John Dramani Mahama has said that Ghanaians should expect that taxes on betting are going to be reviewed under his next administration.

Parliament in March this year passed the bill to tax sports betting and lottery.

This action has received wide condemnation from patrons, mostly the teeming youth.

The government takes 10% of all winnings from sports betting and lotteries as tax.

Speaking to wood sellers in Techiman on Monday November 20 as part of his Building Ghana tour, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) said “ It is not just about taxes on betting, when we come to government we will look at the number of taxes imposed.”

The former President in a bid to capture political power has been on a building Ghana together tour of the three Bono regions.

He has been meeting artisans, market women, students, and traditional rulers soliciting views on couching the people’s manifesto.
