AU Deputy Chair to be special guest at Africa Dialogues

African Union Deputy Chairperson Thomas Kwesi Quartey and the UN Resident Coordinator for Ghana, Christine Evans-Klock, are confirmed as special guests of honour at the Africa-focused thought leadership conference ‘Africa Dialogues’. The event is slated for Saturday, June 3 at the Accra International Conference Center. The announcement is a strong indicator of support for Africa Dialogues by the African Union. Themed ‘Dreams We Dare Not’, the 2017 Africa Dialogues conference will feature powerful and change-making Africans drawn from diverse backgrounds who will speak on issues relevant to Africa’s achievement of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals 2030 and Africa Union’s Agenda 2063; on governance and human rights, education, youth unemployment, infrastructure, public health, gender, income inequality, African economies, and urban development. The line-up includes policy makers, innovative business leaders, accomplished academics, civil society leaders and distinguished individuals from Africa, to dialogue on Africa’s future. Expressing excitement at the confirmed presence of the two top international diplomats, Cynthia Ofori-Dwumfuo, Head of Communications and External Relations for Africa Dialogues said, “Having African Union Deputy Chairperson, Thomas Kwesi Quartey and UN Resident Coordinator, Christine Evans-Klock at Africa Dialogues presents an opportunity for our speakers to speak directly to those who can help accelerate positive change on the continent.” She added: “We are grateful for the support shown us by the AU and UN because it reinforces our drive to create a unique platform for African idea-sharing and thought-leadership. We are also assured that these two continental and international organisations truly care about Africa’s future.” Source: editors.3news.com|Ghana
