Alan picks butterfly as symbol for new ‘party’

Former member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen has announced his resignation from the party “with immediate effect”.

He has said as well that he will contest the 2024 elections as an independent candidate.

The former Minister of Trade and Industry said he will establish a new movement of change in Ghana with the youth as his support base.

“The brand logo for the movement is the monarch butterfly which politically symbolises change and transformation, hope and positivity.

“It also communicates strength, endurance, spirituality, and trust which are all key traits that I cherish as a political leader.”

Mr Kyerematen made this known on Monday, September 25 while addressing a group of supporters and journalists in Accra.

He said his Movement for Change will have the motto: ‘Ghana will rise again’.

“The new Movement will be led and powered by the youth of Ghana,” he said.

“Out of the over 17 million registered voters in the 2020 general election, the youth aged 18-35, years constituted over 9.4 million voters representing 55% of the total voters.”
