President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is expected to address the nation tonight, August 16, 2020, on the measures taken by his government in the fight against coronavirus.
This will be the 15th update of the president.
His last update on Sunday, July 26 saw the further easing of restrictions imposed on the country in what was described Phase Two of the easing of restrictions.
He allowed an unlimited number of worshippers for religious services with the duration increased from an hour to 2 hours.
“I am, therefore, very happy to announce in consultation with our church leaders from 1st August, 2020, the restriction on the number of congregants worshipping at a time in church will be lifted with the length of worship extended from 1 to 2 hours per service.”
He also directed tourist sites to reopen for operation while public transports were allowed full occupancy.
Tonight’s address is expected to touch on reopening of schools for students other than final years, who were allowed to go back from Monday, June 15.
He is also expected to touch on the border restrictions as the country’s entry points have remained closed since March 22.
