Access Bank Group CEO Herbert Wigwe, wife and son laid to rest

The late Group Chief Executive Officer and co-founder of Access Bank, Herbert Wigwe together with his wife and son have been laid to rest.

The final burial ceremony for Mr.Wigwe and his family happened on Saturday, March 9 at Isiokpo, Rivers State in Nigeria.

This was the culmination of the week-long burial program in honour of Mr. Wigwe, his wife Chizoba Wigwe, and his son, Chizi Wigwe.

The late Access Bank Group CEO was a prominent and influential figure in the banking industry.

Prominent dignitaries including Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote and politician Peter Obi attended the burial, along with other dignitaries.

Mr Dangote has said he would name the road leading to his oil refinery after Mr Wigwe.

“I feel very helpless because I could not prevent the tragedy that befell my friend, brother, and mentee – a very loyal friend for that matter,” he said, a few days prior at the memorial.

Last month, Mr. Wigwe together with his wife and son were among some six persons who were killed in a helicopter crash in California.

The helicopter crush happened at the Nevada border in California with the  US government confirming all six passengers onboard dead.
