Year in Review: Major headlines on – January, 2021

The year 2021 began from a long-drawn election battle with the National Democratic Congress (NDC) announcing days earlier that its Presidential Candidate, John Dramani Mahama, was going to challenge the results at the Supreme Court. He had lost to incumbent Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the previous year’s polls.

The first month of the year ended with a nationwide address by President Akufo-Addo on Ghana’s Covid situation, announcing renewed measures in his 23rd Update.

In between those events, the longest-serving Ghanaian leader was laid to rest.
