Ghana’s Covid-19 cases have now hit 22,822.
This is as a result of 854 new cases confirmed by the Ghana Health Service in its periodic update on Wednesday, July 8.
Worryingly, recoveries-cum-discharges have slowed, triggering a rise in the number of active cases under management and care.
From 17,156, the recoveries/discharges are now 17,564.
This has seen a sharp rise in the active cases, from 4,683 at the last count to 5,129.
Among these, 24 are said to be in “severe” conditions while eight are in “critical” conditions with five on ventilators.
The deaths have been stable as the number has stayed at 129 in the last three updates.
So far, a total of 320,071 individual tests have been run.
The new cases are said to be samples taken between Tuesday, June 16 and Saturday, July 4.
