A former lecturer of the Methodist University College, Dr. Osei Bonsu, has advised leadership of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) to strap up the party’s communication machinery to be able to sell their good work.

Dr. Osei Bonsu has touted that the government has done a lot but the party’s communication directorate has failed to communicate it to the public.

The Political Analyst, who was speaking in an interview with Onua FM on Monday, July 18, expressed fret over the abysmal performance of NPP’s Communication Team and urged the newly elected executives to work on their communication skills.

He indicated that the Communication Directorate’s failure to talk about the party’s massive achievement especially at the local level caused the NPP to lose heavily in the parliamentary elections in the 2020 polls.

He wants the party to adopt a new strategy and train its communication officers to be able to highlight and communicate the party’s achievements to the people instead of allowing the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) to set the pace for them.

“I believe it is their communication directorate that they have to work on because in the next election they are going to compete with NDC which is likely to reelect former President John Mahama as their candidate.”

The NPP has to use the sector by sector approach and compare its achievements to counter the NDC communication team, he suggested.

Dr. Osei Bonsu thus urged the current executives to go down to the level of the grassroots and strengthen the party’s communication from the local base so that they can right the wrongs of the party.

By doing so, he believes that the party would be able to convince the masses, especially the disgruntled members who have vowed not to vote in the 2024 general elections in order to come on board in pushing to achieve the ‘break the 8’ agenda.
