Women’s Premier League Week 3 Wrap: Police Ladies, Supreme record 1st defeat

Week three of the Ghana Women’s Premier League continued with an incredibly high amount of goals with Hasaacas Ladies and Ampem Darkoa Ladies running riot in their respective games.

Defending champions Hasaacas Ladies continue their unbeaten run this season beating visiting Thunder Ladies 1-0 in their Match Day 3 encounter honored at the Essipong Stadium on Saturday.

This Weekend in the Women Premier league saw a quiet number of swings, as some big guns fell; others maintained their “giants” status. In general, it was a week that really depicted the heights of Women Football in Ghana.

Week 3 produced a total of 13 goals in both zones with the Southern Zone giving us6 and 7 from the Northern.

In the Northern Zone, AshTown ladies will pick their first point gained of the season when they travelled to beat Kumasi Sports Academy. PearlPia will have their first win this season when they beat Supreme Ladies by 2-1 who are yet to win any game.

Also, AmpemDarkoa Ladies who are yet to taste defeat in the ongoing league travelled to beat Fabulous Ladies who are still hunting for their first win in any match In the ongoing league by a lone goal.Ampem Darko’s coach, Nana Darkwaa admitted how though their fixtures with Fabulous has always been in the past.

‘Knowing how tough our games with Fabulous have always been, I psyched the girls up to win because we [Ampendarkoa] always lose this fixture.

On the flip side, the Southern Zone saw even more drama in the week as only one match failed to produce a winner.

Immigration ladies are still chasing their first win of the season after failing to surprise Ladystrikers, Immigration Ladies head coach, A, S, Y Joseph Badger blamed his side’s defeat to lack of concentration and promised to bounce back very soon.

Ladystrikers picked their second consecutive win of the campaign after losing their opener.

Police Ladies

Elsewhere, Thunder Queens couldn’t match the impressive form of Hasaacas Ladies who beat them by 1-0. Thunder Queens are yet to win a game; they have drawn one and lost two.

Head Coach of hasaacas ladies, Janet Egyir said ‘everybody plays good football nowadays and every team intensifies their effort when playing Hasaacas and that tells you the Pedigree of the team”.

Hassacas Ladies

She added that they are slow starters but they will surely improve.

Outstanding Berry ladies who are the only team in the competition with 100 % record showed their supremacy over Sea Lions who have lost all three matches this season.
